Strategic Facility Planning
Spinning plates in the air? Playing “whack-a-mole?” Putting out “fires?” These are all expressions that many of us use to describe our jobs in facilities management. But what if we were able to step back and take a more holistic view? Strategic Facility Planning, as defined by IFMA is: “a two-to-five year facilities plan encompassing an entire portfolio of owned and/or leased space that sets strategic facility goals based on the organization’s strategic (business) objectives.” A Strategic Facility Plan allows us to solve one issue without running the risk of simultaneously creating another issue.
Strategic Facility Planner Jolie Lucas will present an approach to facility planning illustrating how linking the vision of your organization to your facilities management approach can help you obtain critical support from upper management while also saving you time and money. Relying heavily on the IFMA white paper on Strategic Facility Planning, this presentation will not be a case study, but Jolie will refer to some concrete examples gleaned from recent projects completed for Austin Energy and the City of Austin.
Our Speaker: Jolie Lucas, CFM, is a certified planner and charrette facilitator as well as a LEED Accredited Professional with RSP Architects.
