Building benchmarking: The process of measuring your building’s consumption and comparing it against past performance and to other similar buildings.
AB 802 requires owners of commercial, mixed-use and multifamily buildings 50,000 square feet or larger to report building benchmarking metrics publicly on an annual basis using ENERGY STAR® Portfolio Manager® starting June 2018.
The City of San Diego is stepping up to help local building owners and managers through a proposed local benchmarking ordinance. It will help meet the city’s climate action plan goals and also provide education and support to building owners and facility managers for complying with state requirements.
